HELEN'S STORY

It was the vision of Lenawee County supporter, Helen Hendricks, to have a place that would support and help the homeless population of the county. In 2010 Helen set out to make this county better to all of the residents, regardless of social, economical, or financial status. Helen worked to establish Share the Warmth and opened beds in St. Mary’s and St. Joe’s churches. Total the churches held approximately 30 beds and were available at night and only during the coldest months of the year. Helen made Share the Warmth work on the donations and graciousness of the Lenawee County residents. Fast forward 13 years and here we are in a bigger building, open 24/7/365, serving more than double of the guests and with full-time staff working around the clock to help our guests with case plans. It was Helen’s vision to make this county a better place for everyone, but it is with the continued donations of time and money that allows us to continue with that dream.
